The morning sun unfolds over the top of a nearby cliff.....


Slowly it travels down the opposite side of the valley and makes a discovery on a lower lip of a ridge. Etched in stone, a mystical mountain image appears, just as it has for centuries. The image in stone is a petroglyph - rock carving - sculpted there painstakingly by ancient Southwest Indian carvers. Unlike their creators, the images have survived time and have remained to tell their story. The mystery: we can only guess at the sculptor's purpose in creating that image. Many sites have been destroyed, unknowingly or foolishly, and their stories will not be seen or interpreted by future generations. One man has discovered a way to recreate the images cut in stone by stone, thereby preserving the art without destroying the source....
